We started our day with hair from the amazing Julie Jackson of Julie Jackson Stylists - Hair by Jewels. We trust Julie to style so many of our brides and absolutely love her creativity when it comes to hair.
Read more about my vintage glam hair and Emily's edgy fauxhawk (inspired by Julianne Hough's Golden Globe style) on Julie's blog. I wore a Sue Wong gown with intricate beading, ruffles and feathers. It certainly had a Downton Abbey inspired vibe! I've been obsessing over this designer ever since Anna & Matt's National Cathedral Wedding this summer. Emily wore a gorgeous raspberry hued gown with a sequined top. She opted to go a little more funky with her hair. To complete our looks, the ever fabulous Jan Scott Makeup Artist gave us beautiful make-up that complimented our dresses and hair. We love how well Julie & Jan feed off one another!
We arrived at The National Air & Space Museum just as it was closing to the public and getting ready for the transformation. It really is amazing how quickly event set-ups come together and flipping a museum for an event of this size (over 800 people!) is no small task!
The opportunity to work on an event at The Smithsonian Institution's National Air and Space Museum is truly special. It has the largest collection of historic air and spacecraft and is the most visited museum in the world. I've planned events at some amazing museums before such as The Victoria & Albert in London, but there's just something magical about the scale of the planes overhead that make this museum one of a kind!
I had a wonderful time working alongside these pretty ladies (L-R): Kate with Simply Chic Events, Eleni from Washingtonian and our very own Emily!
DC is an incredibly special place to live and work, and this weekend was just yet another reminder why we love being in this city and especially on Capitol Hill. Our design studio is on Constitution Avenue, a stone's throw from the Capitol building. While people flew in from all over the country to be here, we literally just had to walk down the street to experience history. Pinch us.
