Matt and Josh had a vacation planned with their friends in Cape Cod - they rented a gorgeous house right on the water and were all set to enjoy a week of R&R. Little did Josh know, Matt also had a super special series of surprises (say that three times fast!) lined up for Josh. Surprise #1 - the actual proposal. Surprise #2 - a cocktail party with friends to celebrate. Surprise #3 - a celebration dinner. All in one night! We brought along Abby Jiu to capture the evening and here's a first peek at all the oh-so-fabulous details:
Matt always knew Cape Cod would be the destination he would propose. It was a very special place for Josh, whose family vacationed here growing up. The two love the Cape and Matt wanted a proposal that would be private, but that would also allow them to celebrate with their closest friends. Working with Matt's amazing ideas for Josh's style, likes and dislikes, we transformed a boat house on the property into a beautiful backdrop for Matt to pop the question. Matt devised a plan to take the group away from the house for the afternoon so that we could work our magic. As soon as we received the all clear text, we orchestrated a flurry of delivery trucks who were on standby for our green light - the caterer, rental company and florist all had to come within a precise arrival window as Matt & Josh (and their friends who also were to be surprised) would return to the property for a few hours before the big event! We had to set-up and then clean-up and remove any traces of us being on property!
The boat house proposal was pure magic. We worked with Dragonfly who was an amazing partner and totally game for our crazy load-in/hide/come-back evening of fun! Lanterns hung overhead, the doorway was draped in muslin, and two large wreaths anchored the boat house design. Instead of a traditional ring, Matt gave Josh a gorgeous watch to commemorate the occasion. A small table for two was set inside to celebrate.
Matt & Josh's friends were equally surprised to learn a proposal was in the works that evening! We invited them down the path to the boat house to enjoy a cocktail party in honor of the newly engaged! Guests loved the build-your-own cocktail station including Hendricks gin (the couple's favorite!) with lemon verbana and rosemary simple syrups served in mason jars, a nod to the couple's southern ties.
While guests enjoyed cocktails down at the boat house, we were busy working on Surprise #3 - an intimate water-front dinner set in front of the house. Josh (and their guests) had no idea the celebration wasn't over yet...
Later this week we'll be sharing Part Two of this wonderful celebration. Stay tuned to see the gorgeous dinner under the stars!
